The Cnam’s libraries and documentation centres
The Cnam’s libraries and documentation centres offer extensive print and electronic materials in the many fields of study and research supported by the institution. Located on several sites in and around the capital, they are open to all the members of the Cnam: students, interns, researchers, teaching and administrative staff and also to the members of HESAM Université and our partner institutions.
Users of our libraries also have access to a large number of digital resources. The Cnam subscribes to more than 50 online documentary resources including bibliographic databases, scientific journals, business directories and scientific publishing portals.
Prominently positioned in the grounds of the Cnam is the Central Library which is an outstanding example of Gothic architecture. Its soaring vaulted ceilings and stained glass windows make its main reading room a majestic setting for carrying out research. Users may browse through the extensive material available on the open shelves or work on the quiet study desks that run centrally through the main reading room.
The Central Library also houses a remarkable heritage collection, a wide range of historical materials that document scientific and technical concerns dating back to the 15th century. The collection is arranged into 4 sections:
- The old collection consists of 8,000 volumes from the 15th to the 18th century
- The 19th century collection includes approximately 20,000 documents and over a thousand periodic titles
- The special collection
- The archives, manuscripts and objects collection
